Farmers are helping firefighters to tackle a field fire on Grange Road in Ickleton this afternoon (Thursday, July 26).
Crews were called at 12.31pm to a well-developed fire involving a combine harvester that had spread to standing crops.
Around 20 firefighters are tackling the blaze using hose reels and are being supported by local farmers.
More than 50 firefighters are currently tackling a fire involving a large area of standing crop on Whaddon Road in Meldreth.
There are currently crews from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk and Essex supporting Cambridgeshire firefighters at Meldreth. There are multiple fires in the field area, say the fire service. It is also asking residents in the area to keep their windows and doors closed and call 999 if you have concerns for your property.
A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A number of fields have been affected by this fire, if you’re in the area and can see a fire that doesn’t look like it’s being attended to please dial 999.”
