Car catches fire in Cambridge multi-storey car park




Firefighters tackled a blaze in a multi-storey car park next to the Grafton shopping centre today after a car caught fire.

A spokesperson for the Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The Grafton Centre was safely evacuated, and all persons were accounted for."

They were called at 1.47pm today (Thursday, March 19) and crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using hose reels.

Two crews from Cambridge, the multi-star aerial appliance, the south roaming fire engine, one crew from Cottenham, one crew from Sawston and one crew from Huntingdon attended.

The fire service said the cause of the fire was accidental.
