Tom Knowles fires a hat-trick for Cambridge City in Arlesey Town victory
Lilywhites maintain impressive form
Cambridge City have continued their superb run of form of the last two months.
A 7-3 win over Arlesey Town in the Evo-Stik League, South East Division on Monday night added to a 1-1 draw with Chalfont St Peter last Saturday.
And it means that Robbie Nightingale's side have not lost in the league since August 26, and their only defeat in all competitions was in the FA Cup replay against higher division opponents St Albans.
Ryan Sharman was on target in the draw with Chalfont St Peter, and he was at it again on Monday.
But Tom Knowles was the star of the show with a hat-trick.
Lewis Wilson smashed in from close range for the first goal after nine minutes, only for Arlesey to equalise two minutes later.
Mason Spence got City's second from distance after 15 minutes and Sharman hammered in a third before half time.
Sharman headed a fourth after the break, and then Knowles scored a 10-minute hat-trick.
Sharman was fouled in the box and Knowles scored the penalty for his first. The winger got his second at the back post, and completed his treble with a long-range effort Arlesey got two late consolations.
Meanwhile, Danny Gould's double was not enough for Histon as they lost 3-2 at Stanway Rovers in Thurlow Nunn League, Premier Division.
