Former Cambridge United manager Darren Marjoram takes charge of Histon

Darren Marjoram has made a swift return to management with Histon’s women’s team.

Marjoram was recently relieved of his duties after four seasons at the helm of Cambridge United, whom he guided to glory on three occasions in the county cup.

But he will now turn his focus to life at Bridge Road ahead of the Stutes’ upcoming campaign in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Division One North.

Marjoram’s appointment means that Kevin Jacklin will switch from the role of manager to head of ladies’ football at the club, while Matt Payne will also be part of the coaching staff.

Marjoram said: “I am excited to be at Histon and am looking forward to the opportunity to work with Kevin, Matt and the players.

“There is an excellent foundation to build on and I believe we can look forward to an exciting season ahead.”

And Marjoram has been joined at Histon by Liz Pamplin, who has also moved from Cambridge to take up the role of assistant manager.

“I’m delighted that Liz is able to join me because she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will benefit us greatly,” added Marjoram.

Meanwhile, Pamplin said: “I’m excited to work alongside Darren again and join Kevin, Matt and the players.

“There’s real potential to move things forward at Histon and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
