Cambridge Food & Drink Week serves up great offers and festival fun
This year’s Cambridge Food & Drink Week, organised by Cambridge BID, starts today (Saturday, 28 June) and runs until Friday, 11 July.
This two-week celebration of culinary delights is championing the city’s food and drink scene through exclusive menus, offers, and trails.
It is being held in partnership with the Foodies Festival, which takes place on Parker’s Piece from 4-6 July, in the middle of Food & Drink Week.
The Foodies Festival is a three-day extravaganza of top chefs, tasty food and drinks, and live music.
Throughout Cambridge Food & Drink Week, participating restaurants, cafés and bars are offering residents and tourists alike exclusive set menus and offers.
All of these are featured on the Love Cambridge website, where diners can download a unique code to redeem the offer.
For example, you could enjoy:
20 per cent off food from Monday to Friday at venues including De Luca Cucina & Bar or Smokeworks
25 per cent off food and happy deals from Sunday to Friday at Revolution Cambridge
50 per cent off Bull & Bass Restaurant and Piano Bar during the fortnight
A £20 set menu at Giggling Squid Cambidge
A £15 two-course set-menu at Bill’s Restaurant, Cambridge, or three course set menu for £17.50.
And there are many more offers like these.
Each purchase through one of the offers will result in a stamp for the official Food & Drink postcard, giving visitors the opportunity to be entered into a draw to win a £200 Love Cambridge Gift Card.
So how exactly does it work? Diners can visit any participating venue with an offer to collect a stamp; once they’ve dined or sipped, they simply ask the venue for their Food & Drink Week postcard and collect a stamp.
If they visit three different venues to complete their card and then snap a selfie of themselves with the completed card before posting it on their Instagram stories or wall, they can tag @lovecambridge for a chance to win a Love Cambridge Gift Card.
For those who love a walking tour, there are specially-curated Food & Drink Trails, guiding you through eight different venues across the city.
There will also be a variety of hands-on workshops and tasting events hosted by local producers and venues.
From exploring the art of cheese-making to learning about the latest trends in craft beer, there is something for all tastes.
Hannah Lee, Cambridge BID’s digital marketing coordinator, said: “We are so excited to bring this brand-new event to the people of Cambridge!
“This provides a fantastic opportunity for businesses to showcase their culinary excellence and for residents and visitors alike to taste just what Cambridge’s foodie scene has to offer through fun experiences, tantalising offers and tasty trails.”
Meanwhile, the Foodies Festival will feature pop stars, celebrity chefs, shopping and more.
Listen out for Blue, The Wanted and Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra at the festival, known as Gastro-Glastonbury.
Live cooking theatres will include the likes of Great British Bake Off 2023 winner Matty Edgell and 2024 finalist Christiaan de Vries, plus MasterChef: The Professionals champion Alex Webb and Channel 4’s Extreme Cake Makers star Eloise Durrant, plus many more.
There will be a Cake and Desserts Theatre for those with a sweet tooth, a Kids Cookery School, Foodies SuperChefs, masterclasses in the Drinks Theatre with TV experts, including Joe Wadsack from ITV’s Saturday Morning Kitchen, plus a chance to browse the latest food trends in the Shopping Village.
You can meet local producers in the Artisan Market and taste exotic and unusual new dishes in the Feasting Tent.
A Great Taste Market will help you discover new tastes while the International Cook School will enable you to learn new techniques and cook a dish to take away with a hands-on lesson from a top chef.
And over at the Lumberjaxe Fire Stage, you can watch the flaming hot action with Dragon’s Den investment winning BBQ masters, cooking delicious fire-cooked recipes.
The festival is visiting 14 regions this year, across 42 dates.
