£1,500 of IP advice from Appleyard Lees to be won at our 2020 Science and Technology Awards
Appleyard Lees will offer one of the winners in the 2020 Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards the prize of £1,500 worth of intellectual property advice.
The Cambridge-based IP specialist, which is sponsoring the Biotech Company of the Year award, has supported the awards since their inception in 2017.
Chris Hoole, a dual-qualified solicitor and chartered trade mark attorney at Appleyard Lees, is one of the judges this year.
He said: “We are honoured to once again be part of this fantastic event, recognising the very best in local technology and innovation.
“Each year, the standard of the nominations improves. As judges on the panel for Biotech Company of the Year, it’s extremely exciting to see first hand the contributions that Cambridge-based companies are making in the biotech field, particularly in a year where critical, fast-paced innovation is perhaps more important than ever.
“Beyond the pandemic, we are also witnessing some truly forward-thinking tech in extremely novel but vital fields. Picking a winner will not be easy.
“In addition to this year’s judging, we are very proud to again offer one of the winners £1,500 worth of intellectual property advice.
“As a full-service IP firm, including specialist patent attorneys, many with in-house experience, and solicitors, dealing with a whole host of matters from licensing and copyright to trade marks and patents, the prize fund can be catered to the winner’s needs.
“We will sit down with the winner and discuss what is appropriate to them in developing and integrating an IP strategy in the business. It could be protecting your own IP, finding out what IP you have, or looking at competitors.”
The winner of the prize - to be revealed at the awards ceremony next year - could come from any category.
Free expertise and mentoring on offer to a finalist
Eastern AHSN (Academic Health Science Network) will provide free expertise and mentoring for one of our finalists.
The network helps entrepreneurs to develop their healthcare innovations and progress them into clinical use.
