Cambridge-based PitPat launches GPS tracker for dogs
PitPat, the UK’s leading pet wellness brand, has launched a groundbreaking GPS tracker for dogs.
PitPat was founded by Andrew Nowell in 2015. The company’s hugely successful dog activity monitor has since sold 100,000 units in the UK. As well as containing PitPat’s dog activity monitoring technology, the highly anticipated GPS tracker also allows pet parents to locate their dog on a map if they go missing.
Dog GPS trackers have been on the market for several years, but have been plagued with problems such as large size, short battery life, costly ongoing subscriptions and unreliable performance. PitPat’s new GPS tracker is the first tracker to incorporate both the latest LTE-M and NB-IoT technologies, giving the tracker superior power performance, coverage and network availability. It was launched at the recent CES Show – the world’s largest trade show for consumer technology – in Las Vegas.
With its long battery life (months not days), IP67-rated waterproof enclosure and compact design, PitPat is experiencing “exceptional demand” for the innovative £149 tracker, with over 10,000 registrations on the launch waiting list – no surprise, perhaps, when one in three dogs go missing in at some point in their lifetime.
Speaking ahead of CES 2022, Andrew said: “When we set out to make the PitPat Dog GPS Tracker, we knew it had to stand up to the high standards that our customers expect from us. Like all our products, it’s been developed specifically with dogs in mind, from the exceptional technology at its heart, to the compact, waterproof design and industry-leading battery life. It will also be the first cellular tracker to include lifetime connectivity rather than a costly monthly subscription, something we know is important to our customers.
“With our PitPat Dog Activity Monitor we’ve already helped thousands of pet parents keep their dogs fit and healthy. Now we also them peace of mind that they can find their dog if the unexpected happens, or check in on their dog’s location or activity while they are apart, making PitPat a must-have for all pet parents.”
PitPat are based on Brooklands Avenue in Cambridge and manufacture their devices in the UK.
