Cambridge Future Tech closes seed round as it prepares to co-found six more ventures by end of 2023
Cambridge Future Tech (CFT) has closed a seed round to help it scale its deep tech venture platform.
US-based Vest Coast Capita was among a “number of investors” participating in the round, of undisclosed value.
CFT, which is focused on novel and disruptive technologies from UK universities, is packaging four ventures and plans to co-found six more by the end of 2023.
The funding will enable CFT to grow its team at the Bradfield Centre and develop more UK partnerships.
“We are really excited to work with experienced global investors with deep insights and wide networks, aiding us to support our ventures,” said COO Xavier Parkhouse-Parker.
CFT is initially focused on advanced materials, robotics and AI.
Dr Liz Zijing Li, CSO at Cambridge start-up Mimicrete, said: “As an academic founder, it is indeed a great experience working with the co-founders from CFT. They’ve supported us in getting the self-healing concrete technology ready for the market.”
CFT is a finalist in the One to Watch category at the 2021-22 Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards.
