Conscious Communications marking first decade as a force for good
Conscious Communications is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
The Cambridge-based public relations and marketing agency has grown steadily over the decade, while helping to establish projects such as Cambridge 2030 to tackle inequality in the city.
Managing director Alison Taylor said: “Conscious Communications was born from a desire to do more than just turn a profit. Anyone who is skilled at their craft can build a successful company but we wanted to do more; we wanted to prove that a thriving business could also be a force for good. Throughout our 10 years, having outgrown four offices (the first was really no more than a cupboard!), we have remained true to our proposition and continued to do good, while also doing well, and encouraging others to do the same. I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved and the awards that have recognised this.”
The agency has recently celebrated numerous award wins, including Best in Community Engagement Award at The Drum’s Social Purpose Awards, Business of the Year (under 50 employees), and Positive Impact Award at the Cambridgeshire SME Awards.
Very much an integrated team, Conscious has also hosted the FXP Festival for many years. Charities that have benefitted from the team’s work to date include the PCA Benevolent Fund, Blue Smile, Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, Godmanchester Foodbank, Carers’ Trust Cambridgeshire, Contact the Elderly and Age UK Cambridgeshire. Hundreds of hours of charitable work ate delivered every year by the team, which is based at St John’s Innovation Centre. The Cambridge Half Marathon is another of many projects underpinned by Conscious’ participation.
Zoë Scorer, deputy managing director, said: “What a journey we have been on the past 10 years. I count myself lucky that I have been with Conscious Communications since the very beginning and been part of the growth and success we have enjoyed. We are achieving what we set out to do: to be a force for good and, as an added bonus, we have fun while doing so. I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years will bring.”
Sophie Baillie, PR & marketing director, head of client services, commented: “I feel truly privileged to be part of the Conscious Communications’ team. I work with the best people and for meaningful clients who make a difference. We have achieved so much in the eight years I have been at Conscious Communications – we even have our own registered charity! Of course, we will be celebrating in true Conscious Communications style, but I can’t tell you about that because the plans are top secret… it will, of course, include lots of fizz, laughter, glitz and cake!!”
Alan Beeson, head of design, remarked: “Alison’s offer to me was to be part of an exciting, progressive, ethical company and one that could also be successful. True to her word as always and now looking forward, I have no doubt there will be an even more positive time ahead for Conscious Communications as an influence of the force for good.”
Ali White, PR & marketing director, said: “A decade of Conscious Comms is an amazing reason to celebrate, the progress the business has made has been an honour to be a part of and I’m looking forward to the next 10 years, we’re just getting started!”
Joanna Colley, senior PR & marketing manager, head of media relations, concluded: “When I joined Conscious Communications we were celebrating five years… I cannot believe we’re at a decade already. Alison, Zoë and the team have achieved so much in such a short time and have made such a positive impact– I can’t wait for the future!”
