Annual Contractors vs Consultants fundraiser is success at Cambridge Rugby Club
Cambridge Rugby Club hosted a local construction industry match which raised £6,500 for charity.
The annual inter-industry Contractors vs Consultants rugby game raised the money for the charity LandAid last week.
A crowd of 300 watched as the Contractors started the match having won the last two games, although the Consultants had the overall winning record in the game’s ten-year history.
After a tight opening period the Contractors exploited space with some breakaway tries to take a commanding lead and finish the game 67-17.
Calum Carver, captain of the Consultant team and a Senior Associate at Stace the lead consultant sponsor, said: “Don’t worry we’ll get them next year.”
Earlier in the day, across the road at the St Catherine’s College hockey pitch, the Contractors and Consultant teams drew 3-3 in a hockey match sponsored by law firm Mills & Reeve.
The ultimate winner on the day was LandAid, the property industry charity whose mission is to end youth homelessness.
James Curtis, Business Development Manager for the contractor sponsor Morgan Sindall Construction, said: “It’s great once again to sponsor this industry event and of course to see the contractors win. As a Business deeply invested in Cambridge it is fantastic to support LandAid, who continue to make a difference for those who really need it.”
