Cubitts founder Tom Broughton notes that business has been “really good” in its early weeks, adding: “It looks really promising – lots of people, lots of interest, lots of eye exams... I think it’s surpassed all expectations really.

“From before we even opened, there was a lot of positive feedback – we’ve never opened a site where we’ve had that many people put their head through the door and ask either what it’s going to be or what colour the exterior is. Hopefully we’ve inspired a lot of pink households now!”

Tom reveals that he got into the business as a “long-time spectacle wearer” interested in the product. After finishing university, he worked in a series of office jobs, saving up for around 12 years in order to be able to set up Cubitts seven years ago.

The firm now has 10 branches, eight of which are in London. Its Brighton branch opened in 2020. For further information on the business, visit cubitts.com.
