Dr Voigt joined InferSens as COO in 2021 having spent the previous 15 years working at senior levels in R&D, strategy development and programme delivery in the life sciences sector, as part of which she has managed over £100m of funding.

Her multifaceted career includes roles at the Medical Research Council, Alzheimer’s Research UK, and building and leading Cambridge’s Office for Translational Research.

As COO, she oversaw all the functions in the company – strategically, operationally, and tactically – and raised $1million to accelerate the development of its sensor technology, enabling inference at the edge.

Earlier this month, Dr Voigt spoke of her pride in InferSens, which is based at St John's Innovation Centre, being shortlisted in cofinitive’s #21toWatch showcase.

InferSens is on the awards shortlist for the next generation of innovators for its innovative technology, which enables deep learning – a performance-improving subset of machine learning – to be executed ‘on board’ a device in the field using only battery power. This deep learning sensor technology is eco-efficient and cost-saving and is projected to deliver immediate results in multiple use cases across the built environment and beyond.

Dr Voigt said: “To be shortlisted in #21toWatch 2023 is great recognition for our technology and a testament to the team’s hard work. The innovative ecosystem in Cambridge has been important during our development, and we look forward to expanding our network further through the #21toWatch platform.”

A doctoral graduate from the University of Cambridge, Dr Voigt said she is “proud to lead the team as we push forward to the next exciting phase of the company’s growth”.

She added: “As a team, we are focused on launching our first product, a non-invasive and highly scalable flow and temperature sensor that automates many of the manual aspects of Legionella risk monitoring in building water systems. In parallel, we plan to increase the capacity of our commercial and operational team in response to growing customer interest in our sensor technology.”

To meet the significant technological demands of the evolving business, co-founder Colin Payne will now take on the responsibility of full-time CTO. He will lead InferSens’ talented team of deep learning neural network and engineering specialists in the development and distribution of its cutting-edge sensing technology.

The leadership is preparing to take the first product for its technology to market while raising capital and further expanding the expert team.
