Oliver Drury’s stunning photograph of a Marshall apprentice is EEF awards winner
A photographer from Cambridge has snapped up the EEF National Manufacturing Photography Award for his beautifully lit picture of a an apprentice at Marshall peering through an aircraft window.
Oliver Drury earned £5,000 in prizes after being named Best Professional Photographer in the Next Generation category of the awards, sponsored by Liberty House Group and held last Tuesday in partnership with the GREAT Campaign.
Judges said: “This original image gives a really different feel and story. It has an interesting psychology of colour and the leading lines resulting in excellent composition.”
Oliver said: “I’m delighted and honoured that my work will be on display. Manufacturing offers lots of opportunities for working with exciting, interesting and dynamic people and hopefully that translate to the images – the challenge as a photographer is to tell the story in a single shot. I really hope my photograph makes people think about manufacturing in a different way and understand that there is more to manufacturing that clocking in and out of a factory.”
