Prof Wolf Reik steps down as director of Babraham Institute
Prof Wolf Reik has stepped down as director of the Babraham Institute after accepting a role at another - so far undisclosed - research organisation.
The epigenetics expert was officially appointed to the role at the end of March, but had been acting director since May 2020, following the death of previous director Prof Michael Wakelam following a battle with Covid-19.
The board of trustees said it accepted the resignation of Prof Reik with immediate effect, but he will continue as a group leader at the institute.
Dr Simon Cook has been appointed as interim director while the search for Prof Reik’s successor continues.
In a statement, the institute said: “The board would like to thank Professor Reik for his work at the Institute over more than 30 years and wish him every success in the future.”
Prof Reik is due to be at Babraham still for the next few months.
