Raspberry Pi launches Compute Module 5

Raspberry Pi has unveiled Compute Module 5, a modular variant of its flagship single-board computer.

The Compute Module 5 (CM5) milestone – four years after Module 4 was launched – completes Raspberry Pi’s evolution from educational roots to an industrial computing player.

CM5 features a 2.4GHz quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU and VideoCore VII GPU with support for OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.3. It has two USB 5.0 ports running at 5Gbps, Gigabit Ethernet with precise timing support, and two interfaces for connecting cameras or displays.

It is available with 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB of LPDDR4X-4267 SDRAM, and with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of MLC eMMC non-volatile memory.

16GB SDRAM variants are expected to follow in 2025. Wireless-enabled variants of Compute Module 5 provide both an onboard PCB antenna, and a UFL connector for an external antenna.

The CM5 is different to the Raspberry Pi 5 in that it is intended for use in digital signs and other mass-produced embedded devices, rather than being a general-purpose PC. Expect to pay £66.40.
