Vindis launches apprenticeship scheme with ARU
Vindis Group, the family-owned East Anglia motor dealer group with brands such as Audi, Volkswagen, Bentley, Ducati, Skoda, SEAT and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, has launched a new development in apprenticeship recruitment with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU).
The Nigel Vindis Enterprise Award, named in honour of late joint managing director Nigel Vindis, will offer one individual ongoing support and work experience throughout their studies with the top 100 motor dealer group to achieve the degree.
Victoria Stubbs, director of human resources at Vindis, said: “We are delighted to have launched the first-ever Nigel Vindis Award in partnership with ARU. It’s an excellent opportunity for an individual with the mindset, drive and professionalism to be an incredible business leader in the future.
“Nigel was incredibly dedicated to the motor industry and developing those within the organisation to be the best that they could be. He had complete belief in the careers available within the motor industry and the fact that greater awareness of these was needed. Coupled with this, he knew, and appreciated, that traditional routes to education would potentially become harder to access by certain individuals and felt that the company could offer greater support in this regard.”
The degree will be delivered on a project basis to accommodate the ever-evolving automotive industry and present the candidate with an opportunity to learn all aspects of the businesses within Vindis, gain an understanding of sales, aftersales, and head office departments to deliver maximum impact during the Degree Apprenticeship.
Skills the individual will attain and develop will include analysing data and feedback across a variety of areas of the business; broadening knowledge and skillsets within varying roles of the business; identifying potential solutions and improvements that can be made to business practices; and establishing leadership skills.
Marc Rothera, from the Degrees at Work team at ARU, says: “It’s been such a pleasure to partner with colleagues at Vindis to set up ‘The Nigel Vindis Enterprise Award’, and a new Degree Apprenticeship opportunity, which I hope is the first of many. Degree apprenticeships empower businesses to train people with exactly the skills they need, backed up with high-quality university learning.
“The partnership between ARU and Vindis is a particularly appropriate one, as both organisations are proudly grounded in their local community and have long histories of commitment and supporting people to achieve regardless of their backgrounds.”
Victoria concludes: “The Vindis Group believes in progressive leadership and many of our head office team, including a number of our senior managers and directors have developed through the organisation into the positions they hold today.”
