Held at the five-star Cambridge Country Club in Bourn on Thursday night (September 28), a packed house witnessed sustainable packaging company NaturePac being crowned the overall winner on the night.

It also won the South Cambridgeshire District Council-sponsored Sustainability Award, with managed office services supplier ASL Group taking the silver in that category.

It was also a great night for Duxford-based Welch’s Transport, which took home two golds - in the Product Heads Business Innovation and Business of the Year (more than 50 employees) categories.

There was also double success for Domainex, the integrated drug discovery CRO, which took home Growth Works High Growth Business of the Year for the second time and secured silver in the Business of the Year (more than 50 employees) category.

Business of the Year (less than 50 employees) went to Hera Beauty, the Peterborough-based personal care manufacturer, with Cambridge visual effects specialist Vine FX taking silver.

Cambridge-based architecture firm WindsorPatania took gold in the Best Enterprising Business category, with partner Ryan Windsor earning a bronze in the Business Person of the Year category, won by Sharon Livermore, of Kameo Recruitment, with Ahmed Ejaz, of Cambridge Spectacle Co taking silver. Jessica Duke, also from Cambridge Spectacle Co, triumphed in the Young Business Person of the Year category

Business Woman of the Year went to Jade Holly Smith, of The Saddle Bank, and the Peterborough-based equestrian business also won gold in the Service Excellence award, supported by our returning headline sponsor, Cambridge-based Barr Ellison Law.

Barr Ellison also sponsored Property Industry Business of the Year, reflecting its expertise in the industry. Arnold & Willis Construction took home the gold, with OpenArch scooping silver.

Meanwhile, there was success for Cambridge Science Centre, which earned gold in The Cambridge Building Society Community Business of the Year category, while the @Inc (MENTA) Best New Business went to the exciting SMi Drug Discovery.

Editor Paul Brackley said: “Congratulations to all our winners. We had a terrific set of entries this year, reflecting the dynamic nature of the business community here. I’d like to thank our judging panel for their work and our sponsors for enabling us to host these awards.

“Everyone shortlisted tonight should be proud of their achievements.”

Many of the winners will now go on to compete in the SME National Business Awards.
