The University of Cambridge debating society took on issues such as waiting lists, union strikes, and transgender healthcare.

Almost 150 schoolchildren competed at the event, which was delivered by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and sponsored by Qualcomm.

The society’s famous Thursday night debates will also take on some of the biggest issues of the day.

Headteacher Christine Spain joined Stapleford Community Primary School in 2015.

They were joined by the Cambridge-based charity Landlark.

Teaching excellence, management and lifetime achievement were among the 36 awards handed out at the annual College of West Anglia staff awards.

The initiative will encourage schools, staff and students to become more sustainable and support the trust’s plan to be net zero by 2030.

The event was organised by Sandra Beale and held at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School in Saffron Walden.

Ahead of the presentation, Professor Cox said that he was “delighted and astonished” to be chosen as this year’s recipient.

They showed other year groups and parents around the displays and activities.

The increase is partly down to the effect of lockdown restrictions according to experts.
