Monkfield Park Primary School in Cambourne waves goodbye to headteacher after 11 years
Monkfield Park Primary School said goodbye to its popular headteacher at the end of term.
Sarah Jarman, who joined the Cambourne school in September 2010, is leaving to become the executive headteacher of the Queens’ Federation in Cambridge.
She told the Cambridge Independent: “I am leaving Monkfield Park feeling very proud of its many achievements.
“It has been an amazing school to have led and I have had the good fortune of working with incredible children, staff and families at the school, who I will never forget.
“Today is bittersweet, but I take with me a reassuring knowledge that children will continue to live the values of ‘The Monkfield Way’ through all that they do and that I am sure the school will continue to go from strength to strength.
“It has been humbling to hear the many appreciative comments and to have seen so many happy children pass through the school over the years that I have been the headteacher.”
Sharon McLaughlin, chair of governors, said: “Sarah has been with Monkfield Park Primary School for 11 years, during which time she had made outstanding progress in bringing about positive and sustained change.
“I have had the opportunity to work closely with Sarah since May 2017, when I became a parent governor at Monkfield Park Primary School and later took on the role of chair of governors. During this period of time, I developed a collaborative working relationship with Sarah and saw first-hand the exceptional professionalism and high standards that she brought to her role as headteacher of Monkfield Park Primary School.
“Sarah has always been driven by a genuine desire to ensure that all pupils receive a high quality of education, learning and achievement in addition to being confident, resilient and well rounded individuals.
“Sarah’s leaving will be a real loss for everyone at Monkfield Park. However, I have every confidence that she will continue to thrive in her new role. On behalf of myself as chair of governors and the governing body, we wish Sarah all the very best for the future.”
Kate Major, who has held senior leadership positions at schools in South Cambridgeshire and Huntingdon, has been appointed to the interim post of acting deputy head/inclusion co-ordinator, with recruitment for a permanent headteacher due to take place in the autumn.
