Thousands of runners pounded the streets of the city at the 2022 TTP Cambridge Half Marathon.

Some 10,000 of them took part and a host of good causes will benefit from their efforts, led by headline charity partner Alzheimer’s Research UK.
The weather was kind for the runners, who were competing in what was the 11th Cambridge Half to be held since it returned to the city.

The same 13.1-mile course as the delayed 2021 race was used, starting and ending in Victoria Avenue, beside the Midsummer Common event headquarters, and taking in sights including King’s College, Grantchester and Jesus College.

There were just 30 seconds between the first three finishers, who were:
Nick Bester, of Best Athletics (age 30-34), in 1:06:19, at a speed of 3:08 min/km
Christopher Thomas, of Thames Valley Harriers (age 25-29), in 1:06:30, at a speed of 3:09 min/km
Alex Milne, of Hercules Wimbledon AC (age 30-34), in 1:06:39, at a speed of 3:09 min/km
The first three female runners back were:
Lucy Reid, of Tonbridge AC (age 25-29) in 1:11:15, at a speed of 3:22 min/km
Georgina Schwiening, of Cambridge Runners (age 25-29) in 1:12:18, at a speed of 3:25 min/km
Holly Archer, of Cambridge and Coleridge Athletics Club (age 25-29) in 1:13:20, at a speed of 3:28 min/km

Others took a more leisurely approach and wore some brilliant costumes. Superman, Wonder Woman, Spider-man, the Gruffalo, a penguin and a carrot were among those who could be seen.

In addition to Alzheimer’s Research UK., the national charity partners for the race were Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support and Charlie Waller, while the local charities partners were Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre, Power 2 Inspire, Mind CPSL, while there are also a host of Gold Bond charity partners.
This is Alessio. Not only has he a visual impairment but he also has cerebral palsy and a kidney transplant.
