19-year-old arrested after Extinction Rebellion digs up Trinity College lawn in Cambridge
A 19-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage following action by climate protesters at Trinity College in Cambridge on Monday.
Extinction Rebellion Youth Cambridge dug up the lawn outside the University of Cambridge college in protest at plans for 300 homes at Innocence Farm in Suffolk.
The activists transported the earth they had dug up at Trinity College to Barclays Bank in St Andrew’s Street and dumped it inside the building.
Cambridgeshire police confirmed today (Tuesday) that a 19-year-old was in custody.
“Investigations are ongoing and Trinity College are assisting the police in this matter,” said the force.
Today, a woman was seen being led away from Extinction Rebellion’s ongoing roadblocks on Trumpington Road to the sound of cheers and the beating of drums from fellow campaigners.
