300 tonnes of straw in Thriplow lit ‘deliberately’




A blaze involving 300 tonnes of straw was started deliberately, according to the fire service.

Firefighters from Cambridge and the south roaming fire engine were called to a stack fire on Gravel Pit Hill in Thriplow on Sunday (August 27) at 1.10pm.

Crews assessed the situation and left the fire to burn out under supervision of the owner. They also regularly inspected the site over the next two days.
