Taking place for the first time at the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, the award ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 24, welcoming editors and publishers and celebrating the work of villagers, independent groups, charities and colleges which provide news for their community and members.

Representatives from 30 publications attended the awards, which were supported by the Cambridge Independent.

The decision to bring everyone together at the hospice this year was a natural move for The Cambridge, which continues to support Arthur Rank through its ongoing partnership.

The magazines were judged on editorial excellence, relevance of community content, use of imagery and overall presentation.

The judging panel who were responsible for choosing the winners of each category consisted of Clive Weatherley, joint creative director of the creative agency Mobas; Adrian Peel, property editor at the Cambridge Independent; Janet Reid, company secretary and head of compliance at The Cambridge; and Donna Talbot, director of fundraising and communications at Arthur Rank.

Andy Lucas, chief operating officer at The Cambridge, oversaw the evening’s proceedings together with Victoria Stubbs, chief risk officer.

Mr Lucas said: “It’s been a fantastic evening for printed publications in our communities.

"The assortment of magazine styles is great to see and tonight has been a wonderful way to celebrate all the hard work put in by everybody.

“We were especially thrilled to host the awards at the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity for the first time.”
