Hayley Simmonds has reclaimed her 10-mile time trial record.
The Bar Hill rider lost her mark to Tyneside Vagabonds CC’s Anna Turvey, but had it back within seven days.
Simmonds was riding in the Team Swift event on the V718 near Hull and smashed the 19-minute barrier, becoming the first woman to record a time under 19 minutes.
She went 32 seconds quicker than Turvey, clocking 18min 36sec on a course that is believed to be one of the fastest in the country.
Simmonds initially took the record in July with a ride of 19.31, and then she lowered the mark to 19.18 last month, before Turvey’s efforts saw the record usurped again.
It has been a good year for Simmonds, who retained her national title and then set competition records in the 25 and 50-mile time trials.
