BBC Children in Need schools ambassador Joe Wicks visits Over Primary School
BBC Children in Need schools ambassador Joe Wicks visited schoolchildren at Over Primary School as part of his popular schools tour programme.
As the charity’s first-ever schools ambassador, the visit on Wednesday (November 13) was part of Joe’s mission to help children across the nation get active and feel good whilst fundraising for Children in Need.
Joe met and spent time with children and learnt about the amazing work they’re doing to fundraise for the charity, before delivering a fun-filled mini HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout for them and their teachers.
It was an exciting surprise for the school as they are just one of the 10 Joe is visiting as part of his tour this November.
His tour will culminate with a live workout today (Friday, November 15) – BBC Children in Need’s 2019 Appeal day.
The ‘Big Morning Move’ workout will be live-streamed to schools across the nation with pupils encouraged to have fun while getting active.
After the visit, Joe said: “It’s been absolutely brilliant to see how Over Primary School are getting involved with this year’s BBC Children in Need Appeal. There was such a buzz throughout the school, whether it was the kids or the teachers themselves – who were just as keen to get involved!”
Amy Ramsdale, Year 5/6 teacher at the school, said: “It’s been such a pleasure welcoming Joe Wicks into our school. There has been such a sense of excitement in the run-up to his visit from pupils and staff alike!
“We have been completing Joe Wicks' videos at school during the day to try and improve fitness and enthusiasm towards exercise across the school. Here at Over Primary School we take real pride in getting together and supporting BBC Children in Need each year, and Joe’s visit has made us all the more determined to do what we can to raise vital funds for the charity this year. On behalf of us all, we want to say a big thank you to Joe.”
