Body pulled from River Cam in Cambridge
Police have confirmed that a body of a man in his 40s was pulled from the River Cam.
Residents had reported a Magpas air ambulance in the air over Chesterton/Riverside for “a considerable period of time” on Friday afternoon.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire police confirmed on Monday: “We were called to reports of a body in the River Cam at about 3.45pm on Friday (August 18) at Stourbridge Common, Cambridge.
“Police and fire attended but the man, in his 40s, was declared deceased at the scene.
“There were no suspicious circumstances and it has been passed to the coroner.”
Locals residents discussed the incident over the weekend.
One saw “police, ambulance, fire engines and a helicopter” on Logan’s Meadow.
A spokesperson for Magpas said: “The Magpas Air Ambulance medical team were called to an incident in Cambridge on Friday afternoon, landing via the Magpas Air Ambulance helicopter at 4.15pm. Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, the patient was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this time.”
