The programme, which will be presented online this Wednesday (March 23), features workshops led by organisations including The Bennet Institute for Public Policy, Cambridge Junction, Shift Momentum, and University of Cambridge Museums.

Highlighting the changes to the community due to the pandemic, CAN is working in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) and the University of Cambridge to address the role that arts and culture can play in supporting local recovery, examining ways of working that not only sustain the creative and cultural economy but meaningfully support the stability of the community.

Cllr Anna Smith, leader of Cambridge City Council, said: “Art and culture have a profound impact on individuals and the places and communities they are a part of. And in tough times that’s even more true. As we continue to feel the effects of Covid, and struggle with a rising cost of living crisis, the arts aren’t peripheral.

“They are essential to supporting recovery, building resilience, strengthening skills, and enhancing wellbeing. They help build our communities and create bonds between us. I want to thank Cambridge Arts Network and everyone who has organised this conference, especially Anglia Ruskin and the University of Cambridge for their support, and everyone who is leading or supporting a session.

“I hope it will be a fantastic conference which helps our brilliant arts and cultural community generate new ideas for our city and communities.”

The conference takes place from 9am-5pm via Hopin. Registration is free of charge. To secure your place, visit: https://bit.ly/CANConference2022.
