Funded by the Newlands Trust, the charity has purchased a custom-built vehicle taking a range of low vision equipment and technology to people across the county, where it will offer practical and emotional help.

Cam Sight service user Lady Sheila Harrison was guest of honour at the launch last Wednesday (October 21) at Cam Sight’s headquarters on Green End Road, Chesterton. She was accompanied by her husband, Sir David Harrison.

Mike Jenkins, CEO of Cam Sight, said: “The mobile unit will play an integral part in providing a 21st century service for local blind and visually impaired people, taking support into the community.

“Lockdown and current social distancing has been hard for the VI community – this mobile unit will allow us to support more people in these challenging times.”

If you would like the mobile unit to visit your area, call 01223 420033 or write to info@camsight.org.uk.
