Cambridge man attacked partner in front of child
A man who violently attacked his partner in front of their terrified child has been jailed.
Jorge Ramos, 40, began assaulting the woman at about 1am on 22 November at a flat in Mill Park Road, Cambridge.
Concerned neighbours called 999 and reported they could hear shouting and a child crying.
Ramos told officers they had an argument over his partner banging on the door after seeing a friend upstairs.
A witness told officers they had seen him kick and punch his partner in front of their four-year-old daughter. Ramos was arrested and taken to Parkside police station.
Ramos, of Mill Park Road, Cambridge, was jailed for 14 months, on Tuesday (8 April), at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court acting as Cambridge Crown Court, having pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm at an earlier hearing.
Det Con Steven Day said: “Ramos launched a shocking and violent attack on his partner, made even worse by the fact it was witnessed by their four-year-old daughter.
“Dealing with domestic abuse is a force priority and we will do everything in our power to help bring offenders to justice.”
