Cambridgeshire fire service issues chimney warning after two more house fires

The fire service has reminded householders to get their chimneys swept after being called to two house fires.

A crew from Linton was called to Nosterfield End in Castle Camps at 3.37pm on Saturday (January 6), while a Cambridge crew was called to Priory Avenue in Swavesey at 4.26pm last Thursday (January 4) after fires caused by chimneys.

A fire service spokesman said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected regularly, at least once a year. The debris build-up in the flue can be set alight when heating the home, which could cause a significant fire. Regular chimney maintenance will help prevent this from happening.”
