Cambridgeshire firefighters tackle three deliberate fires in three days
Firefighters in Cambridgeshire have been called to three deliberate fires in as many days, sparking concerns of a summer rise in arson attacks.
Crews from Ely and Burwell were called at 9.37pm on Saturday (July 15) to a car fire on Stretham Road in Wicken that had been started deliberately.
Wearing breathing apparatus, they put it out with a hose reel and returned to their stations by 11.30pm.
The following day a fire in the open was started deliberately at Orchard Park in Cambridge.
A crew from Cambridge were called at 1.13pm on Sunday (July 16) and extinguished the fire, returning to their station by 1.50pm.
Then at 10.03pm on Monday (July 17) a crew from Cambourne was called to a fire in the open on Monkfield Lane, Cambourne.
Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the small bonfire and returned to the station at 10.42pm.

The crew from Sawston used a hose reel and small gear to extinguish the small fires before returning to the station at 5.31am.
