Cherry Hinton Care Home resident makes emotional return to St Albans Cathedral

A Cherry Hinton Care Home resident fulfilled a long-held wish when he made an emotional return to St Albans Cathedral, a place that holds cherished memories from his past.

More than 50 years ago, Allen was a choir boy at the cathedral and his return there was organised by the care home staff.

The Bishop of St Albans warmly welcomed him upon arrival, and Allen was able to sit in the seat he had once occupied as a young choir boy - a moment that brought back a flood of memories for him.

“It was like stepping back in time,” said Allen. “I never thought I would have the chance to return, but I'm so grateful to everyone who made this possible.”

Cherry Hinton Care Home said its team loves to give residents meaningful experiences that honour their past while enriching their present lives.
