Cyclist dies in collision at A603 roundabout near Grantchester




A cyclist has died following a collision on the A603 near Grantchester.

The man in his 50s was cycling at the Barton Road roundabout at about 7.30pm on Friday (July 31) when he was in collision with a white Vauxhall Astra.

Emergency services attended the scene and took the cyclist to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

He died of his injuries in hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning (August 1).

The driver of the car, who stopped at the scene, was uninjured.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the car or cyclist in the lead up to it, or has dashcam footage, is urged to contact Cambridgeshire police via its webchat service or by calling 101 quoting incident number 504 of 31 July.

The fatal collision came on the same day a Cambridge woman in her 50s died in a three-car collision on Cambridge Road, Fulbourn, which happened just before 11.30am.

The crashes came a week after the death of a cyclist in Fulbourn.

John Hunter, 87, of Cow Lane, Fulbourn, was cycling along Shelford Road just after 4.15pm on Friday July 24 when he was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Corsa.
