Earlier heavy rain may give way to thunder this afternoon

The Met Office, which issued a yellow weather warning for Cambridge earlier today, is warning of thunderstorms later this afternoon (Tuesday, September 24).

With some parts of southern England having seen more rain in the space of an hour than they did in the first 21 days of the month, there may be drier patches with some brightness as the afternoon continues.

However, there may still be torrential showers and thunder in places, with a maximum temperature of 20 degrees.
