Enter Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust’s Build a Robot Competition and help support the hospital
Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust’s (ACT) Buy a Robot Appeal, backed by the Cambridge Independent, is challenging you the chance to build your own robot at home or at school.
Get creative and build your own robot at home or at school. Enter the competition for your age group (under 8, 8-13, 14 and over, or a team entry). You can enter for fun or ask your parents, grandparents, and friends to sponsor you.
You could even do a collection to help buy a surgical robot for the hospital. Winners will be featured in the Cambridge Independent and receive an Addenbrooke’s robot T-shirt.
Advice on building your robot:
- Decide if you’re building your robot at home or at school – don’t forget to ask for permission
- Plan what your robot will look like and what it will be made of. Will it be able to do anything?
- Get all your materials together. Why not use the weekly recycling from your home or school?
- Get building and have fun! The surgical robot for Addenbrooke’s will help patients get home quicker. Does your robot have special powers?
- Take a photo of your robot and e-mail it to fundraising@act4addenbrookes.org.uk. Don’t forget to include your name(s), telephone number and e-mail address of a responsible adult/teacher, which competition age group category you are entering, the name of the adult who has given you permission to enter the competition, and the name of your school.
The closing date for the competition is March 31. You can also help ACT buy its very own surgical robot by texting ROBOT followed by your donation amount to 70580 to give that amount, eg ROBOT10 would donate £10 to the robot appeal. Don’t forget to ask permission.
