Six fire crews attended a roof blaze in a semi-detached house in Milton this afternoon (Tuesday)
The occupants of the house and their next door neighbours were safely evacuated from their homes in Benet Close, Milton, after flames tore through the roof.
Six officers in breathing apparatus tackled the fire at the property. By 6pm the fire was almost out and officers were about to remove roof tiles to use an aerial appliance on the embers. Station Commander Danny Kelly said: "We are just in the process of checking for hotspots . The adjoining property has been checked and there is no fire travel at all. "
