Family say their ‘world will never be the same’ following death of ‘adored son’ in A14 crash




A family has paid tribute to an “adored son” who was set to pursue his dream job before he died in a crash on the A14.

Morgan James Robert Swann, from Spalding, in Lincolnshire, died following a multi-vehicle collision on the eastbound carriageway at Horningsea on Tuesday (22 April) at about 9.25pm. Three other people travelling in the same car as Morgan suffered serious injuries.

The driver of a lorry, a 38-year-old man from Cambridge, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail as investigations continue.

Paying tribute, Morgan’s family said: “Our beautiful son was taken from us at the tender age of 19.

“He is utterly adored by his parents Mark and Sonia, his three sisters Georgia, Ellie and Scarlett, as well as grandparents, uncles, auntie, cousins and godparents, and so loved by his many, many friends.

“Morgan had passed all his interviews and assessments to secure a place at Britannia Royal Naval College as a Cadet Officer and follow a career as a submariner. He was awaiting a start date to pursue his dream. We are so proud of him.

“Our world will never be the same and we request privacy as we try to come to terms with the unimaginable pain of our loss.”

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident. They would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time with dash cam footage.
