Wearing breathing apparatus, they extinguished the fire using a hose reel.

At 12pm, the crews were still at the scene damping down the area and making sure it is safe.

The fire service has not yet confirmed the cause of the fire.

Cambridgeshire police and ambulances were also at the scene.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said: ““We were called at about 11am with reports of a fire at a property in Panton Street, Cambridge.

“Officers have attended to assist with managing the scene.”

It follows two other house fires on Saturday, in Whittlesford and Lode, which were caused by debris in chimneys.
