Football fan visits Cambridge United on charity run
Nathan Richardson has been running to all 92 football grounds in the EFL and Premier League - the equivalent of 95 marathons - to raise money for charity.
Starting back in March at Old Trafford, the Manchester United fan arrived at The Abbey stadium, home of Cambridge United, last Friday (October 16) - the 59th ground he's visited (Norwich's Carrow Road was 58th) - before going on to Milton Keynes, where Milton Keynes dons play, later that afternoon.
Nathan, 29, who is running to raise money for two charities - the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity and mental health charity Mind - visited a couple of grounds a week until lockdown put his plans on hold.
He started again at the end of May and has been going ever since. "I did the Midlands, South Wales and all along the south coast of England," he told the Cambridge Independent ahead of his arrival in the city, "and then all through London and now I'm coming out to the east. I'm hoping to be finished by Christmas."
Although he's a Man United fan, ex-soldier and workshop manager Nathan is originally from Rochdale and will be finishing at the Spotland Stadium, also known as the Crown Oil Arena, which is the home of League One side Rochdale AFC.
He has been staying on people's couches, in hostels, B&Bs and in hotels. "I was in a tent for a little while," said Nathan, who managed to get his hands on the FA Cup while at Arsenal. "When I was running over Dartmoor I was camping out for a little bit."
