Fundraiser set up to fund funeral of 2-year-old girl who died after being hit by a car at Cambridgeshire holiday park
More than £16,000 has already been raised to help pay for the funeral of a two-year-old girl who died when she was struck by a car at a Cambridgeshire holiday park.
Isabella Tucker was playing with her sister and cousins on the family holiday at Horsley Hale Farm in Littleport when tragedy struck at about 6.45pm on Friday, August 25.
She was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in King’s Lynn, but sadly died of her injuries.
A 42-year-old woman, from the Leeds area, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving and bailed to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough on November 24.
Isabella’s mother, Vaida Sprainyte, described her as “a beautiful daughter and little sister”, adding: “It’s so easy to love you. Loved you from first sight and will love you forever.”
Vaida’s friend Arune Bastyte has now organised a Gofundme fundraising campaign, which has already exceeded its £15,000 target, to pay for a funeral and for mental health support for the family.
She said: “We are full of so much gratitude for all the love and support we have received from everyone this past week. Thank you so much for each and every one of your kind words, messages, and prayers. It is so touching to know how many kind people have heard our story.”
Describing herself as “heartbroken”, she added: “Last Friday, our lives changed forever when Isabella was out playing with her sister and cousins on a family holiday in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. A time that was supposed to be for making good memories turned into our worst nightmare when Isabella was struck and killed by a car.
“As we struggle to come to terms with Isabella’s death, I am trying to help Vaida organise a funeral to mourn the loss of her baby girl and celebrate her life.
“The burial we wish to have next week costs £15,000 and we are trying to raise these funds to support Vaida and her family as they navigate this terrible time.
“A portion of the proceeds will also go toward mental health support that Vaida and her eldest daughter Milita, who witnessed this tragic incident, may need due to this traumatic experience.
“We are extremely thankful for any donations and sharing of this page so we may try to reach our goal to give Isabella the farewell she deserves, as well as the professional support Vaida and Milita need.”
By Monday lunchtime, the appeal had reached £16,785 thanks to 785 donors.
