Harry Potter fans gather at the Grand Arcade in Cambridge

Harry Potter fans gathered at the Grand Arcade last weekend to meet Prof Dumbledore and to celebrate Hallowe’en.

Part of the Grand Arcade became a scene from Harry Potter as children took to the stage to sit under the 'sorting hat' and shops around the Grand Arcade joined in the fun including staff in John Lewis dressing as characters from the films, from left Laurel Saward, Megan Blesic and Clara Wardell. On Saturday (October 31), this safe half-term experience allowed visitors to discover which Hogwarts house they belonged to – Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin – using the Sorting Hat from Hogwarts School, located next to the entrance of John Lewis.

In order to maintain social distancing, there were only 30 spaces available per session. While waiting for their sorting, visitors were be able to participate in the ‘snitch trail’, which involved finding 10 snitches hidden around the arcade.
