Hollywood star Ben Affleck seen out and about in Cambridge

Hollywood A-lister Ben Affleck was spotted at various sites throughout the city on Wednesday (July 17).

The actor/director/writer, who won Oscars for Good Will Hunting and Argo, was reportedly seen in Castle Hill around 4.30pm.

Twitter user @StrayTaoist seemed to confirm the sighting on the social media site:

Affleck was also at Scudamore's, but a spokesperson from the punt hire company confirmed to the Cambridge Independent that he didn't go punting.

He also dined at Byron Burger on Bridge Street, but a spokesperson from the restaurant declined to comment on what he had to eat, and was spotted near the Grand Arcade.

Rhoda Joseph, general manager at the Grand Arcade, said: "A couple of staff members came back to me yesterday and said, 'Oh, guess who's in Cambridge, he's outside one of the shops on the other street...'

"I'm not even sure he was actually spotted in the Grand Arcade at all, sadly - otherwise I might have popped down straight away and seen him! So he was in the vicinity but I'm not aware that he was on the premises."

Rhoda added: "But there was a real ripple of excitement about him being here."
