Join in the virtual Cambridge Town and Gown 2020 run

The Cambridge Town and Gown 2020 is going virtual this year – and the Cambridge Independent is proud to support it once more.

Much like this year’s London Marathon , the event will allow runners to complete their run anywhere.

Adults can take on a 10k, while children can enjoy a 3k run, at any time of the day on October 18. As ever, it will raise money for organiser Muscular Dystrophy UK, a charity for people with muscle-wasting conditions.

All entries will be able to submit their race time on the Race Nation app and a medal will then be sent to their home.

The charity’s entry system will automatically provide participants with a fundraising page through Sports Giving.

While fundraising is not compulsory, the charity encourages all runners to raise what they can, especially as it faces a £2.8million funding gap due to events and activities being hit by the pandemic.

Entry for over-16s costs £10 each. Child entries for the 3K race are priced at £5 each.

Entries for the 2021 event –the ninth – will open soon after the virtual run. It promises a scenic route that will take participants through the heart of Cambridge, passing many landmarks, historic university college buildings and along the River Cam. Town and Gown was given the bronze award for Best 10k in East England by The Running Awards 2018 and 2019.
