Maggie the 14-year-old golden retriever is rescued by firefighters from muddy ditch in Burwell




Firefighters are known for having to rescue cats up trees on occasion… but how about a dog in a ditch?

Fourteen-year-old golden retriever Maggie found herself stuck in mud during a walk in Burwell on Tuesday evening.

Firefighters from Burwell and Cambridge were called at 7.13pm and performed what they declared to be “a paw-fect rescue”, retrieving her from the muddy ditch in Hythe Lane.

They were back at their bases by 8.35pm - and Maggie was left in need a bath.
