Man charged with the murder of a woman in Cambridge
Mother of two killed - man charged with murder
A man has been charged with murder following an incident in Cambridge yesterday morning.
Police were contacted at 6.51am to reports of concern for a woman at a property in Perne Road.
Officers and paramedics attended the scene and the woman was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, but sadly died of her injuries this morning.
She has been named as Asia Tufail (32), a mother of two young children.
Muhammad Malik (36) of Perne Road was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder. He will appear at Huntingdon Magistrates Court today (Thursday).
A post mortem conducted by Dr Ben Swift at Peterborough City Hospital this afternoon concluded that Ms Tufail died of asphyxia at the hands of a third party.
Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
