Mill Road area of Cambridge to get new public artwork and landscaping

A new piece of public art that recognises Romsey's association with the railway is planned for the corner of Mill Road and Cavendish Road.

Cambridge City Council has begun a consultation on landscaping plans for the corner. These include removing the hard standing and installing a new porous surface around the two birch trees, new planting areas, paving and cycle parking stands.

The consultation, which can be viewed online at cambridge.gov.uk, closes on December 12.

The proposed work is part of the council’s environmental improvement programme.

The public artwork is still under development, so no images of it are expected to be released until the new year.

A council spokeswoman said: “This has been developed with local community input and is intended to recognise Romsey’s long association with the railway.”

The artwork will be installed following the completion of the landscaping works, along with two benches made using recycled timber.
