More than 50 firefighters tackle 100-acre field fire in Haddenham

More than 50 firefighters are fighting a large field fire in Haddenham.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews were called at around 4.15pm this afternoon and are tackling the fire, which involves around 100 acres of field.”

It is the latest in a long line of field fires in the very dry conditions.

The fire service said: “We’re working hard to make sure we have fire engines available in other areas of the county for other emergency calls, but please try and stay fire safe this evening.

“Think twice about having a bonfire or lighting a fire pit. if you’re having a barbecue, keep it away from buildings.”
