New A14 Girton link road to open overnight

The new A14 westbound to westbound Girton link will open overnight tonight (Thursday, December 19) say Highways England.

The new section of the road was due to open to drivers on Tuesday but was postponed due to weather conditions. The opening had already been rescheduled earlier in the month.

Highways England has not confirmed what time the road will reopen.

Westbound traffic coming Milton and Histon and wishing to continue on the A14 will now need the right hand lane while traffic continuing on A428 will need the left hand lane.

After a number of false starts, the new A14 westbound to westbound Girton link will finally open overnight tonight (Thursday 19).

The link will allow drivers travelling on the A14 to continue their journeys without having to use the Girton junction. However, the existing loop will be be retained for maintenance and emergency access only.
