Nominate to our Public Choice Award 2023 with Cambridge University Hospitals and say thank you to staff at Addenbrooke’s or the Rosie
Nominations are now open for our Public Choice Award with Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) - honouring the amazing work of staff at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie.
For the second year, we have teamed up with CUH to pay tribute to those working in our hospitals.
We want to hear your stories of the kindness, compassion and skill from individuals or teams working at CUH.
Nominations can be made via the simple form below - and there is the opportunity to include a message that will be passed on directly to the member or members of staff to which you pay tribute.
The Public Choice Award will form part of the second CUH Annual Awards, and is the only category open for public nomination. The other categories enable CUH staff to nominate, or are special awards.
Editor Paul Brackley said: “When we teamed up with CUH last year for this award, we knew that it was a great opportunity for our readers to say thank you for the extraordinary care that is given day in, day out at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie. Yet we were still blown away by your nominations.
“The incredible work, often in very challenging situations, by NHS staff at our hospitals is something for which we are all so grateful and nominating an individual or team for this award is one small way we can pay tribute to them.”
We will share some of your stories with our readers, but you can choose to remain anonymous if you prefer. You may also nominate on behalf of care given to a family member or friend. As an annual award, it particularly aims to honour care given in the last year or so.
Ian Walker, director of corporate affairs at CUH, said: “I would like to thank the Cambridge Independent for partnering with us on the CUH Annual Awards - Public Choice Award for a second year.
“We were so moved by the many stories of kind, compassionate and incredible care shared by readers in last year’s awards. These stories have really helped to remind our amazing staff, who work so hard every day, how valued and appreciated they are by patients and families from all over our region, and further afield.
“If you would like to recognise an individual or a team at Addenbrooke’s, The Rosie or one of our other sites, please take a few minutes to submit a nomination – your feedback really does make a difference to our staff.”
Last year, the award went to the Motor Neurone Disease Clinic for its outstanding care.
The Cambridge Independent and CUH will judge the entries to the Public Choice Award once nominations close in mid-May.
CUH is planning celebratory events for all staff nominated to this award, and the internal awards, in July.
A special awards ceremony for the finalists will then be held in September in Cambridge.
The other award categories include recognition for teamwork, for contributing to patient and staff safety, for care and compassion, and for delivering improvements. CUH chair Mike Mire will select the winner of the You Made a Difference award, while CEO Roland Sinker sill select a winner for special recognition, and Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust will honour those who have an outstanding contribution to its work.
