Not confined to any single aesthetic, theme or medium, the deadline to apply is midnight on September 4.

The inaugural artist fellow, Logan Dandridge, brought interests in memory, non-linear time and black experience to his dialogues with physicists.

Logan said: “This is an incredibly ambitious venture and I’ve definitely been put in a position to extend my practice in ways that I would never have thought possible. I think that is at the centre of this fellowship. It is such a beautiful and delicate balance to be playing in as an artist.”

Suchitra Sebastian, founder and director of the Cavendish Arts Science programme, said: “At Cavendish Arts Science we create collective encounters between art and science that explore the world, our humanity, and our place in the world. We look to question traditional centring of voices and to find ways to re-imagine exploring material and immaterial universes. We are enthusiastic about partnering with artists who share our vision.”

The fellowship is open to artists committed to collaborating with others and artists with no previous experience of working with scientists or in a scientific environment are encouraged to apply.

Cavendish Arts Science is an initiative of the University of Cambridge, Cavendish Laboratory for Physics and the fellowship is run in partnership with Girton, supported by a donation from Una Ryan.
